United Nations, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The Group of 77 and China, a forum that brings together 134 countries in the south, again will reject the blockade against Cuba in the UN General Assembly, said today the Bolivian ambassador here, Sacha Llorenti. In statements to Prensa Latina, the diplomat said on Tuesday that multiregional organization, chaired this year by Bolivia will express its position condemning the economic, commercial and financial siege applied by Washington for more than half a century.
The Assembly will vote on October 28 a draft resolution on the need to end the blockade, similar to that adopted clearly in the last 22 years initiative, which in 2013 received the support of 188 of the 193 UN members.
It is a unilateral measure not only genocide against a member of the G77, but against international law and the UN Charter, warned Llorenti.
The Ambassador noted that the summit for the 50th anniversary of the Group of 77 and China, held last June in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the final statement ratified the ‘rejection of our people to the unjust economic blockade imposed by the United States to brotherly people of Cuba.”
For the diplomat, voting will not only be a place of condemnation to sanctions on the Caribbean country, held for 10 US presidents despite the global claim to stop them.
‘That day the international community will also have the opportunity to thank its enormous Cuba solidarity’, he said.
Heads of State or Government of the G-77 also called for the lifting of the blockade last month, during the performance of high-level debate of the UN General Assembly at its 69th Session.
