Australia has temporarily stopped issuing visas to people from countries affected by ebola.?The country’s Immigration minister Scott Morrison said those who have received non-permanent or temporary visas but who have not yet left West Africa for Australia will have their visas cancelled.
Those with permanent visas can enter the country, but have to be quarantined for 21 days. Meanwhile, China has been warned by ebola expert Professor Peter Piot that it’s only a matter of time before the high volume of Chinese working in Africa bring the disease ‘home’.
Piot, a Belgian scientist who was part of the team that discovered ebola in 1976, said the virus will come to China because of the number of Chinese people employed in Africa.?Recent cases of ebola now have been recorded in the United States, Germany, Spain, Norway, France and the UK. In the worst-hit West African countries Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, more than 4,500 ebola deaths have been confirmed, with over 9,000 cases reported.
