Luanda — The South African Foreign minister, Maite Mashabane, left Luanda on Wednesday back for her country, after attending in Luanda the 2nd Tripartite Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Angola, South Africa and Democratic Republic of Angola (DRC).
The South African official was seen off at the Luanda “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport by high ranking officials from the Foreign Ministry, from her country’s embassy officials and other figures.
During the meeting that was attended by the Foreign ministers of Angola and DRC, Georges Chikoti and Raymond Tshibanda respectively, the parties approved the structure and composition of the Tripartite Mechanism Secretariat comprising three directors, one of which will an executive, that will chair the organ for one or two years.
Addressing the opening session, the South African Foreign minister recalled the purpose behind the creation of the Mechanism.
She stated that the purpose was to re-design the tracks of the old leadership that predicted that one day their people would live in a safe environment.
The diplomat stated that on behalf of their ancestors, the current leaderships must do all to implement the plans leading to the development of their respective regions.
In so doing, she added, the leaders will be implementing the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Plan and more impotantly the 2063 African Union Agenda.
The South African official who was in Luanda since Sunday also attended the 3rd Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs of SADC and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The Tripartite Mechanism is intended to reinforce and deepen the strategic and long lasting partnership among Angola, South Africa, and the DRC.
The cooperation areas established under the Tripartite Mechanism focus mainly on such areas as political and diplomatic, defence, security and public order , public administration and cooperative governance, including the country’s economic, social and infrastructure development.
